The Agricultural Technician reports to the Coordinator of Animal Health Research for work assignments.
The Agricultural Technician works closely with other farm employees, faculty, and students, thus excellent interpersonal skills are necessary.
This position will assist in all task related to the livestock production.
Duties include ensuring that all nutritional, housing and health care needs of the animals are met and maintained to the highest level, upkeep of research facilities which includes washing and disinfection, and maintaining operational readiness and safety of animal facilities for research.
This position will also be responsible for assisting researchers with animal handling and sampling, providing routine animal care such as vaccination, deworming, and applying animal identification, and providing general construction and maintenance of farm equipment and facilities that support routine care for animals.
This position will also be responsible for general maintenance of the grounds and common areas surrounding animal enclosures.
Some travel to other farm units may be required.
Entry into the applicant pool requires a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver's license.
